Casino Plus is expanding beyond online gaming into original digital content as it taps the fast-growing market for short-form mobile video, launching its first premium vertical drama series based on one of its most popular games.
The PAGCOR-licensed digital entertainment platform said Thursday that Bathala is its latest effort to serve the demand that shifted from traditional television to smartphone-based content.
“The local entertainment market is evolving rapidly from long-form television toward premium, short-form vertical reels,” Casino Plus CEO Evan Spytma said.
“With Bathala, we are driving this transition by pairing cinema-grade production with mobile-first distribution. This approach delivers culturally relevant storytelling that aligns with how modern audiences consume media.”
The first episode, released on 9 July, has already garnered nearly 80,000 views across social media. The second episode is scheduled for release today.
Inspired by one of Casino Plus’ games, the series reimagines Tagalog mythology through the story of Moon Goddess Mayari, whose journey centers on adapting the supreme deity Bathala’s legendary “Great Formation” into a digital game.
Casino Plus said the project is designed to combine Filipino cultural storytelling with digital entertainment, reflecting the growing demand for premium vertical video content in the region.
The series stars Zonia Mejia as Mayari, Gary Guarino as Dumangan, and Lea Macapagal as one of the deities.
The company will launch new episodes over three consecutive weeks to sustain audience engagement through a mobile-first format.
