If there’s one K-pop allegation that continues to stand the test of time, it’s this: no one does concerts quite like Filipinos.
Living up to the playful mantra of being “Not Shy,” just loud, thousands of Filipino MIDZYs went absolutely “Loco” as they welcomed ITZY back to the SM Mall of Asia Arena last Saturday, 11 July, transforming the venue into a thunderous sea of light sticks, deafening cheers, and nonstop sing-alongs.
The overwhelming reception even prompted member Ryujin to declare Manila the number one stop of the group’s world tour, proving once again why Filipino fans are regarded as some of K-pop’s most passionate concertgoers.
From the moment Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna stormed the stage with “Tunnel Vision,” followed by “DYT” and their latest anthem, “Girls Will Be Girls,” the packed arena erupted into a massive chorus, with fans singing every lyric as loudly as the group itself.
The cheers only grew louder when the members greeted Filipino MIDZYs in their own language.
“Kumusta, ako si Yuna,” Yuna said.
“Kumusta? Ako si Chaeryeong. Namiss niyo ba kami?” Chaeryeong asked, immediately met with a resounding “Yes!” from thousands of fans.
“Kumusta, ako si Ryujin. Namiss namin kayo!” Ryujin greeted.
“Mabuhay. Ako si Lia. Kinagagalak namin kayong makilala,” Lia shared.
“Kumusta, ako si Yeji,” the leader said, drawing yet another wave of cheers.
The momentum never dipped as ITZY rolled through “Walk,” “Kiss & Tell,” “Wannabe,” “Supernatural,” “Imaginary Friend,” and “Motto,” while Filipino MIDZYs continued singing every word as if the concert belonged to them as much as it did to the performers.
The spotlight then shifted to each member’s individuality. Lia showcased her vocals through “Asylum,” Yuna radiated youthful charm with “Tangerine,” Yeji captivated the crowd with “Pocket,” Chaeryeong impressed with “Undefined,” and Ryujin delivered a charismatic performance of “Look.”
The arena erupted once more as the group reunited for “Gold,” “Wild Wild West,” “In the Morning,” “That’s a No No,” “Sorry Not Sorry,” “Not Shy,” and “Loco,” with fans belting out every chorus so loudly that the members often paused to listen to the audience sing.
But it was during the encore that Manila truly stole the spotlight.
After heartfelt performances of “Mirror” and “Five,” the members paused to soak in the crowd’s overwhelming energy. Ryujin jokingly told fans to keep it “a secret” between ITZY and MIDZY, revealing that Manila had become the No. 1 stop of their world tour. She shared that the overwhelming energy from Filipino fans made her feel the tour had been a success, drawing deafening cheers from the audience.
The members also admitted how much they had missed Manila, saying they could feel the crowd’s passion from the opening song until the very last stage. Before saying goodbye, they left fans with a heartfelt promise: “See you next tour.”
Determined to keep the celebration going, ITZY returned with “8-Bit Heart,” “Sneakers,” “Cake,” and finally “Dalla Dalla,” ending the night with one last explosion of confetti, dancing, and voices echoing throughout the arena.
As the final notes faded, one thing became undeniable: the long-running claim that Filipino fans are among the loudest concert crowds in the world remains undefeated. In Manila, MIDZYs didn’t just watch ITZY perform — they sang every lyric from the depths of their hearts, cheered until their voices gave out, and gave the group a night they themselves crowned the biggest and loudest stop of their world tour.
