Global design and local heritage have found a breathtaking new vernacular at the B&B Italia Manila showroom. In an outstanding visual dialogue between silhouette and space, the annual Heritage Campaign orchestrated a high-fashion collision between iconic Italian living and the contemporary couture of Filipino designer Jor-el Espina. This is a living, breathing reinterpretation of craftsmanship where international sensibilities meet a profound appreciation for Filipino identity. Utilizing traditional materials like piña, callado and jusi alongside the explosive visual language of local fiestas, Espina weaves a narrative where fabric, materiality and furniture converge. It is an award-winning exercise in pure artistry, proving that true luxury lies in the continuous, symbiotic evolution of form and culture.
“The dialogue unfolds across a meticulously styled landscape where iconic furniture becomes the canvas for theatrical style. The list of iconic names such Mario Bellini, Gaetano Pesce, Naoto Fukasawa, Piero Lissoni, Patricia Urquiola, Paolo Piva, Tiziano Guardini and Luigi Ciuffreda are all beautifully interpreted into outstanding pieces that triumphantly showcase where design ceases to be merely functional, elevating into a timeless expression of global sophistication.”
The exhibition is a visionary declaration of where global design is headed. By anchoring the sharp, structural mastery of European modernism with the rich, texturized soul of Filipino heritage, this partnership rewrites the rules of contemporary luxury. It proves that a couch is never just a place to sit, and piña is never just a textile — they are vessels of cultural memory, beautifully reimagined for a global stage. As the curtains fall on this year’s Heritage Campaign, one truth becomes blindingly clear: when high-concept Italian form marries the raw, theatrical poetry of local couture, design ceases to be an object in a room, transforming instead into the very way we choose to live artfully.
