The Philippine National Police (PNP) has promoted 11 senior officers, including its director for operations, according to a 9 July memorandum obtained by the DAILY TRIBUNE.
Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones, the PNP’s director for operations, was promoted to major general, earning his second star.
Police Colonels Marlo Castillo, Glenn Lonogan, Gerry Ratunil and Rommel Rumbaoa were elevated to brigadier general.
Six lieutenant colonels were likewise promoted to full colonel. They are Franklin Ortiz, Laurente Acquiot, Ronald Mendoza, Joel Castro, Rico Pangilinan and Vincent Bangwa.
The PNP has yet to announce the schedule for the donning of ranks ceremony at Camp Crame.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Dominic Baccay has been designated acting director of Police Regional Office 4-A (Calabarzon), replacing Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan, who retired on July 10 after Malacañang declined to extend his service.
The designation followed Malacañang’s decision to reject a proposal extending Marantan’s service beyond the mandatory retirement age.
The Palace did not publicly explain its decision. With the extension denied, Marantan formally retired on 10 July, paving the way for Baccay to assume the post in an acting capacity.
