D'Angelo Russell is headed to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a six-team NBA trade that also sends Khris Middleton back to the Washington Wizards.
Russell will join Memphis on an expiring one-year, $5.9 million contract for the 2026-27 season. In exchange, the Wizards will receive a future second-round draft pick and a future second-round pick swap from the Grizzlies.
The move marks Russell's sixth NBA team and his 12th season in the league. He did not appear in a game for Washington after being acquired in a previous trade.
Before landing with the Wizards, Russell played for the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 10.2 points, 4.0 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in 26 appearances while seeing limited minutes.
Memphis also acquired Isaiah Stewart as part of the multi-team transaction.
Meanwhile, Middleton is returning to Washington through a sign-and-trade agreement after a brief stint with Dallas.
The veteran forward signed a three-year, $17.6 million contract, with only the first season fully guaranteed. The second year is partially guaranteed, while the third year is non-guaranteed.
Washington had originally traded Middleton to Dallas before the February trade deadline as part of the deal that brought Anthony Davis to the Mavericks.
Middleton averaged 10.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 63 games with Dallas last season.
Former Grizzlies forward Santi Aldama is also joining Washington in the transaction.
The six-team deal also sees the Detroit Pistons acquire John Collins, Gary Harris, and Taurean Prince, while the Milwaukee Bucks receive Caris LeVert.
