Independent Philippine cinema takes center stage once again as the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival announced the nine full-length films competing in its 2026 edition, showcasing a diverse mix of emerging voices and established filmmakers.

The festival will run from August 6 to 18, with “Enjoy Your Stay” directed by Honeylyn Joy Alipio and Dominik Locher opening the event, while “Filipiñana” by Rafael Manuel has been selected as the closing film.

The 2026 full-length competition features:

• Tirik – May-i Guia Padilla

• Kakâ sa Yawan – Alpha Habon

• Ganggang – JL Burgos

• a.ni.mal – Dustin Celestino

• 2 Valid IDs – Ma-an L. Asuncion-Dagñalan

• Status: Rejected – Vahn Leinard Pascual

• Hand of God – Mark Duane Angos

With another slate of original Filipino stories set to premiere, Cinemalaya continues its tradition of championing bold, thought-provoking, and independent filmmaking.
