Sustained anti-criminality efforts by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have resulted in the swift arrest of a theft suspect and the full recovery of stolen property in Sampaloc, Manila on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 4:15 p.m., operatives from the Sta. Mesa Police Station (PS-8) apprehended a 43-year-old suspect along Maganda Street, Barangay 427, Sampaloc, Manila.
The complainant, a 34-year-old IT engineer, had momentarily left her luggage unattended beside her parked vehicle while entering a private residence. Taking advantage of this brief lapse in security, the 43-year-old female suspect allegedly seized the belongings without the owner’s knowledge or consent.
Upon discovering the theft, the victim immediately sought assistance from police personnel stationed at the Pureza Station South Entrance PADS. This critical reporting initiated an immediate follow-up operation, which successfully tracked down the suspect and led to the recovery of all stolen items, valued at P20,000.
The suspect is currently in custody, and a complaint for Violation of Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code (Simple Theft) is being prepared for filing before the Manila City Prosecutor's Office for inquest proceedings.
