Some 200 volunteers, including AboitizPower scholars, planted around 2,000 fruit-bearing and native tree seedlings during the Bataan Arbor Day 2026 tree-planting activity held in Barangay Duale, Limay, Bataan, on 25 June 2026.
The activity took place within the Community-Based Forest Management (CBFM) area of the Alangan Farmers Producers Association, Inc. (AFPAI) and was spearheaded by the Provincial Government–Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) of Bataan.
The volunteers from various organizations demonstrated their commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. AboitizPower was represented by GMEC-GNPD CSR Program Supervisor Abigail Jacinto, together with the company's scholars, who participated in the reforestation effort despite inclement weather.
The group successfully planted approximately 2,000 seedlings of suha, mangosteen, lemon, avocado, and narra, helping restore and enrich the local forest ecosystem.
Also participating in the activity were representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Philippine Coast Guard, Iskolar ng Bataan, SMC Mariveles Power Generation Corp., Limay Power Inc., Alpha Phi Omega, Makati Eagles Club, and the Local Government Unit of Barangay Duale.
The participation of AboitizPower scholars reflects the company's commitment to developing environmentally responsible leaders who actively contribute to the well-being of their communities.
Through initiatives such as Bataan Arbor Day, the scholars demonstrated how collective action can create a lasting positive impact on both people and the environment while helping build a more sustainable future for generations to come.
