The 100 finalists of the WPS Mural Festival 2026 were unveiled Tuesday at the National Library of the Philippines, where visitors viewed reproductions of mural entries from artists across the country.
The festival forms part of the Philippines’ commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the landmark 2016 arbitral ruling, which invalidated China’s sweeping claims in the South China Sea under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Among those who attended the unveiling were Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr., retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro, Philippine Coast Guard Rear Admiral Jay T. Tarriela, Col. Ma. Consuelo “Bon” Nunag-Castillo, and documentary filmmaker Baby Ruth Villarama, director of Food Delivery.
The WPS Mural Festival highlights artistic interpretations of the West Philippine Sea and aims to raise public awareness of issues related to Philippine maritime rights and sovereignty.
