Sonny Wagdos and Jessa Mae Roda delivered commanding performances to rule the 21K race in the Makati leg of the REV* Tri-City Half Marathon on Sunday at Ayala Triangle Gardens.
Wagdos emerged as the fastest male finisher after clocking one hour, nine minutes and 21 seconds, comfortably ahead of Jose Fabito Jr. .(1:15:49) and Jevie Rebutazo (1:15:50).
Roda, on the other hand, also put up a dominant performance in the women's division, completing it in 1:25:23 as she was followed by Maricar Camacho (1:30:50) and Patrice Anne Quiday (1:38:55).
The Makati leg was a superb follow up to the successful first staging which happened in Manila, with more runners expected to participate in the finale in Quezon City on 13 December.
"The turnout has been overwhelming for the second leg of the REV Tri-City Half Marathon and it's encouraging for us to see more runners try on these longer races," said RUNRIO president Rio de la Cruz of this race.
Rai Sen also came away with a narrow win in the men's 10K in 35:56, just one second ahead of Jonathan Pulido who timed at 35:57, as JP Enano placed third (37:43); while Maria Jonna Lina Abutas topped the women's 10K in (42:26), followed by Em Sigue (47:12) and Alessandra Jimjoco (50:15).
John Matthew Dumanglas claimed the men's 5K crown in (20:47), followed by Amier Fiegedhar Mohammad (21:18) and Ronnell John Lao To (22:22); while Marjell Cruz paced the women's side in 24:04, ahead of Krisly Bulatao (28:51) and Bethany Anne De Vera (31:29).
