The British Grand Prix had everything Formula 1 fans could ask for—wheel-to-wheel battles, strategy, mechanical drama, and a race that ultimately ended behind the Safety Car.
When the dust settled, it was Charles Leclerc who delivered Ferrari its first win of the season, finishing ahead of George Russell, while Lewis Hamilton completed the podium in third.
Leclerc wasted no time making his move at the start, launching past polesitter Kimi Antonelli into Turn 1 to grab the lead. Behind them, Russell and Max Verstappen went side by side as they fought aggressively for position during the opening laps.
Ferrari opted to bring Leclerc into the pits early, temporarily handing Antonelli the race lead. That advantage was short-lived after a Virtual Safety Car was called when Nico Hulkenberg stopped near the pit entry, disrupting the pit strategy across the field.
Once green-flag running resumed, Mercedes pitted Antonelli, allowing him to rejoin near the front and continue the chase. However, his race quickly unraveled after a problem developed on the car.
The issue significantly affected his pace, but despite repeated radio messages from Mercedes asking him to retire, the young Italian stayed on track. He was later handed a five-second penalty for repeatedly exceeding track limits while trying to manage the damaged car.
Ferrari looked set to secure a one-two finish as the race entered its closing stages, with Hamilton running comfortably in second. But everything changed when Verstappen spun into the gravel, bringing out the Safety Car once again.
Ferrari chose to pit both Leclerc and Hamilton for fresh tyres, while Russell stayed out. The strategy promoted the Mercedes driver to second after Hamilton dropped behind him during the pit cycle.
With no time left to restart the race, the Safety Car led the field to the chequered flag. Leclerc secured a memorable victory for Ferrari, Russell salvaged second for Mercedes on home soil, and Hamilton rounded out the podium after an action-packed afternoon at Silverstone.
