The local government of Pasig City opened a remote-controlled vehicle park at the Rainforest Adventure Experience on Sunday, a project Mayor Vico Sotto said aligns with a broader campaign to expand public open spaces rather than build on government land.
Speaking at the launch, Sotto said government-acquired properties, especially those along riverbanks, will be preserved as parks instead of being developed into new concrete buildings.
"We need more open spaces," Sotto said. "The properties that the city has acquired along the riverbanks will not be covered with more concrete structures."
The mayor cited that public parks and green spaces are standard features in highly developed cities.
He said Pasig wants to create more areas where children can play and senior citizens can spend time safely, urging residents to support the city's urban preservation efforts.
