Manila Water Foundation (MWF) was a finalist in the 2026 League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) CSR Guild Awards for the outstanding CSR collaboration category.
During the awarding ceremony held on 30 June at Westin Manila, LCF gave recognition to MWF for undertaking the Project Bohelebung Water System (PBWS) in Tipo-Tipo, Basilan together with partners and LCF members Metrobank Foundation and Zuellig Family Foundation.
PBWS is water system that produces 350,000 liters of potable water daily for more than 2,500 residents of Barangay Bohelebung. Its construction was made possible through the synergy of the three foundations and the municipal and provincial governments.
MWF dedicated the citation to its partners and to the families of Bohelebung. The project partners believe that when clean water reaches communities, hope flows, health thrives and peace becomes possible.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, the guest of honor during the awarding ceremony, acknowledged the water access, sanitation and hygiene or WASH support of MWF to schools, public spaces of the city, and the stewardship of La Mesa Ecopark in Barangay Greater Lagro.
In MWF’s latest WASH project, it partnered with Erceflora in handing over 12 refrigerated drinking fountains and 600 hygiene kits at the De Castro Elementary School in Pasig City.
The donation handover was attended by leaders of key partners, namely Opella Healthcare Philippines country manager Emma Valette, DepEd School Governance and Operations Division Chief of the Schools Division Office Pasig City, Dr. Victor Javeña, the heads and representatives of 12 Batang Matatag schools partners in Pasig City, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) officials, and school healthcare professionals in Pasig City.
A highlight of the event was a gut health and diarrheal management talk by pediatric infectious disease expert, Dr. Jo-ann de Castro. The session reminded everyone on diarrhea prevention, and the role of probiotics in maintaining gut health.
In her message, Valette said “To every student, with every decision you make, whether you wash your hands properly, drinking safe water, and taking care of your gut health is a step towards being Batang Matatag…let us continue in building a stronger, healthier, and more resilient Filipino children.”
To reach more learners, a Batang Matatag WASH Paaralan hygiene education and gut health session will be held in four select Pasig City Batang Matatag school partners.
To enable health habits, 600 hygiene kits with hand towels, a bar of soap and water tumblers were handed over to the Batang Matatag school partners. Boxes of Erceflora Gut Defense probiotics were also provided to all the 44 Pasig City schools to support learners’ gut health and overall well-being.
School heads of De Castro Elementary School and Palatiw Elementary School thanked the Opella Healthcare Philippines and MWF for the WASH interventions that will support the hydration needs, health and well-being of more than 45,084 learners, teachers and members across the 12 Pasig schools.
