The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the University of the Philippines-Diliman on Thursday unveiled the model unit for the pioneering rental housing project on the campus under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s flagship Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program which will benefit more than 3,000 individuals.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and UP-Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Carlo Vistan II led the ribbon-cutting and unveiling of the model unit for the UP Southern Diliman Gardens Rental Housing Project, joined by key DHSUD and UP-Diliman officials.
“This is yet another proof of the continuing expansion of President Marcos’ Expanded 4PH Program. Rental housing is one of the modalities we added so more Filipinos can benefit from the program,” Aliling said.
Dignified life for Pinoys
“Under the Expanded 4PH, the President’s goal is not just housing but decent, safe, and affordable housing for a more dignified life for our countrymen,” he added.
The UP-Diliman management branded the project as “very valuable” for the UP community.
It will be undertaken by Megawide Construction Corporation which was represented by its COO Frederick Tan during the ceremony.
The project, composed of eight walk-up buildings, is slated for completion in 2027. It will have around 1,000 units, each measuring 27 square meters.
The Southern Diliman Gardens is the result of a memorandum of agreement signed between DHSUD and UP late last year. DHSUD is also undertaking a rental housing project at UP-Los Baños.
Joining Aliling were Senior Undersecretary Eduardo Robles Jr., head of the Expanded 4PH-Project Management Office; Director Ryan Jaen, also of Expanded 4PH-PMO; other DHSUD and UP-Diliman officials, and representatives from the Quezon City government.
