The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday called on participants in the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) gathering along EDSA to exercise their constitutional rights responsibly while directing police to observe maximum tolerance during the activity.
In a statement, the DILG reaffirmed its respect for every Filipino's right to peacefully assemble and express their views.
The department, however, urged rally participants and other stakeholders to "exercise their rights responsibly, uphold the rule of law, and cooperate with authorities throughout the activity."
The DILG also directed the Philippine National Police (PNP), in coordination with the concerned local government unit, to exercise maximum tolerance while implementing appropriate security and traffic management measures.
The department said the measures are intended to ensure that the activity remains peaceful, orderly, and safe for participants and the public.
"The Department remains committed to protecting public safety while upholding the constitutional freedoms of every Filipino," the DILG said.
