apples Aberin: Vice president, One Mega Group Lifestyle Media Brands
I am so blessed to have a supportive family, and I must say that faith plays an important role.

Beginnings
I entered the industry at 16 and, decades later, I’m still part of it, albeit in a very different capacity. What began on the runway eventually evolved into a career spanning fashion, media, marketing, communications and brand-building.
My first fashion show was for Malu Veloso when I was 16. It happened unexpectedly. My cousins and I ended up “modeling” the dresses we wore for my cousin’s debut, and director Boy Saulog noticed me and suggested I pursue modeling.

Shortly after, I began doing fashion shows for Vicki and Letlet Veloso, along with other designers and brands. Those opportunities led to editorial shoots, television commercials, advertising campaigns and various projects in fashion and media.
In 1987, I joined PMAP and was fortunate to be mentored by some of the industry’s most respected professionals. Looking back, I realize how much of my career was shaped not only by opportunities, but by the generosity of people who were willing to teach, guide and believe in young talent.
Challenges
I wasn’t the tallest, the thinnest, or the most conventionally beautiful person in the room, and in an industry that often celebrates those qualities, that could have been a disadvantage.
What I learned early on was that while you can’t control how you compare to others, you can control how you work. I focused on being professional, disciplined, reliable and prepared. Over time, I realized that longevity is often built not on being the most visible person in the room, but on consistently showing up and delivering your best.

Where I am now
Today, I serve as vice president of One Mega Group Lifestyle Media Brands, overseeing brands that celebrate culture, creativity, business, design and the evolving Filipino lifestyle. I honestly thought I would be retired by now, happily slowing down and enjoying a quieter pace of life. Instead, I find myself back in media, doing work that continues to inspire and challenge me.
What drives me today is the pursuit of media excellence and the opportunity to help create platforms where Filipino talent, creativity and ideas can thrive.
Wisdom
In my twenties, I genuinely believed I could do anything and had everything figured out. Life, of course, had other plans. The years have taught me that nothing is permanent, not success, failure, titles, trends, or circumstances. The only thing we can truly do is keep learning, keep improving our craft, and remain open to growth.
I’ve also learned that success becomes far more meaningful when it is shared. Some of the most rewarding moments in my career have come not from personal achievements, but from seeing others grow, succeed and discover opportunities because of something I was able to contribute.
At the end of the day, talent may open doors, but humility, generosity and a willingness to keep learning are what sustain a meaningful career and a meaningful life.
Fashion taught me how to present myself. Life taught me how to carry myself.
