AFP monitors INC rally as QC extends permit until 1 July

The Armed Forces of the Philippines National Capital Region Command (AFP-NCRCOM) said Tuesday it remains on alert and is closely monitoring the ongoing Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) gathering near the EDSA People Power Monument while coordinating with other agencies to maintain peace and order.
In a statement, AFP-NCRCOM said it is working closely with the Philippine National Police, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, and other government agencies to ensure the safety of rally participants, motorists, and the general public.
The command said it remains ready "to maintain a safe, orderly, and peaceful environment."
Meanwhile, the Quezon City government issued a permit allowing organizers to continue the rally on Wednesday, 1 July.
A copy of the permit obtained by the Daily Tribune showed that the activity may be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The permit was issued at around 6 p.m. Tuesday and signed by Public Order and Safety Department head, retired Police Gen. Elmo San Diego.
Asked about the situation overnight, San Diego said some participants were expected to remain near the rally site.
"Matutulog sila sa tabi lang kung di uuwi," he said.
Authorities have yet to announce any changes in security measures as the gathering enters its second day.
