Senior citizens and indigenous people (IPs) underwent a seminar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the risk of being scammed in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija on 18 June 2026.
Spearheaded by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and in collaboration with the City Government of San Jose City, and the San Jose City Public Library Tech4Ed Center, the seminar provides participants with practical knowledge on Artificial Intelligence, digital literacy, and cybersecurity awareness.
“As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to shape the way we communicate, learn, and access information, it is equally important to understand the opportunities and risks that come with these emerging technologies,” DICT stated.
The DICT furthered that thru engaging discussions and real-life examples, participants learned about AI-powered technologies, including deepfakes, voice cloning, and AI-generated content, as well as the growing threats of online scams, fraud, and misinformation.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of verifying information, recognizing common scam tactics, protecting personal data, and practicing responsible digital citizenship.
By strengthening digital awareness among vulnerable sectors, the initiative empowers communities to confidently and safely navigate the digital world.
As technology continues to evolve, digital inclusion and cybersecurity education remain essential in ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital age. Through initiatives like this, DICT and its partners continue to promote a safer, smarter, and more digitally empowered community.
