The UN Global Compact Network Philippines (GCNP), which groups local businesses and organizations that align their operations with the international body’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, has begun facilitating in the country the SDG orientation program previously conducted by the UN Global Compact, the international grouping of SDG-aligned corporations.
The six-month program, dubbed SDG Ambition Accelerator (SAA), was conducted for Arthaland, Envirocycle, GetMeds, Mynt, Isla Lipana and Co. (PwC Philippines), Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Manila Water, Nickel Asia Corporation, PTC Group, Rosehall Management Consultants, San Miguel Corporation, Shiang Shang Electronics and other local corporations. GCNP concluded the SAA with a graduation ceremony for 28 representatives of the participating private and non-government organizations held at the Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2, hosted by the Bank of the Philippine Islands as part of its Sustainability Awareness Month, on 15 June.
The SAA helps businesses set more ambitious targets, strengthen their sustainability strategy, and integrate SDG action into core management and operations. It offers best practices, training, mentoring, and a peer network of businesses and experts. It also helps companies identify new ways to contribute to the SDGs while building stronger internal commitment and clearer sustainability goals.
Through the SAA, companies joining the GCNP can improve how they manage sustainability, strengthen employee engagement, develop more responsible products and services, and show stakeholders that their business strategy is aligned with long-term development goals.
