DOST Tarlac
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Tarlac was recognized as the 1st Place Best Scribe Awardee for their exemplary reporting of STARBOOKS activities and engagements during the STARBOOKS Stakeholders' Appreciation Day on 24 June 2026.
According to DOST Tarlac, the said recognition reflects their commitment in capturing every milestone of the STARBOOKS program.
Through impactful storytelling, the agency showcased how STARBOOKS goes beyond the classroom, bringing science, technology, and innovation closer to Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) and Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities.
"This achievement highlights the importance of preserving the stories behind every deployment and partnership; stories that inspire learning, promote innovation, and demonstrate the lasting impact of STARBOOKS in empowering communities," DOST Tarlac stated.
"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to partner institutions, stakeholders, and beneficiaries whose unwavering support and collaboration have made this accomplishment possible."
The DOST Tarlac assured that they remain committed to documenting every step of STARBOOKS' journey as the agency continues to expand access to knowledge and create more opportunities for every Tarlaqueño.
STARBOOKS stands for Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS. Developed by the Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), it is the first digital science library in the Philippines. It functions as a standalone, "library-in-a-box" information portal designed to provide educational materials without needing an internet connection.
The project aims to bridge the digital divide by bringing critical resources to geographically-isolated and economically-challenged communities.
