CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Pampanga has been allocated a total of P572 million under the national government’s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF), Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda announced Thursday.
The funding was finalized following the launch of “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” in Malacañang last Monday—an event that marked the rollout of the LGSF, which delivers direct financial aid to local governments to accelerate project delivery.
Of the total amount, Pineda said P286 million is earmarked for infrastructure initiatives, while another P286 million will support rice programs for the province’s farmers.
“It’s a big deal to be given this kind of funding,” Governor Pineda said. “Even though the money is with the national government, we will monitor everything closely. This should have been done earlier—LGUs have really been struggling with insufficient IRA funds.”
According to the governor, Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) allocations for LGUs have long been inadequate for infrastructure needs. The new funding will advance priority projects, including medical equipment procurement, hospital upgrades, and multipurpose evacuation centers—designed to prevent schools from being used as temporary shelters.
“By investing in these key areas, we’re making sure that no community in Pampanga is left behind when it comes to essential services and disaster preparedness,” Pineda added.
The LGSF aims to speed up project implementation by releasing funds directly to LGUs, ensuring Filipinos see faster and more tangible benefits.
