The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday said it remains strictly non-partisan as it prepares to support the Philippine National Police (PNP) during public assemblies marking the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

In a statement, the AFP, through its National Capital Region Command, acknowledged scheduled peaceful assemblies in Metro Manila.

“We respect the right of our fellow Filipinos to peacefully assemble and express their views, as guaranteed by the Constitution,” the AFP said.

The military reiterated its commitment to professionalism and neutrality.

“We do not engage in political activities and remain focused on securing the sovereignty of the State and the integrity of the national territory,” it said.

The AFP said the PNP remains the lead agency for maintaining peace and order during public assemblies, with the military providing support when requested.

“As part of our routine preparedness, appropriate security measures are in place to ensure public safety while fully respecting civil liberties,” the AFP said.

“The AFP remains committed to protecting the people and the State while upholding democratic processes,” it added.
