Priority measures endorsed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) are moving through the House of Representatives, with two bills clearing key committees and several others lined up for deliberation, House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” A. Marcos said Sunday.
Marcos cited the approval by the House Committee on Appropriations of the proposed Presidential Merit Scholarship Program and the continued progress of the proposed National Land Use Act.
The scholarship bill seeks to institutionalize the Presidential Merit Scholarship Program under the Commission on Higher Education, providing a legal framework for assistance to academically outstanding students.
The proposed National Land Use Act aims to rationalize land use planning by setting a national framework, creating an oversight body, and requiring consultations from the regional level down to cities and municipalities.
Marcos said eight LEDAC priority bills are now in advanced committee stages.
The House Appropriations Committee is expected to take up the remaining six LEDAC priority measures, including proposals to modernize the Bureau of Immigration, create an Independent People’s Commission, amend the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, amend the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program law, revise the Magna Carta for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and reset elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Marcos noted that 12 of the 52 LEDAC priority measures have been approved on third and final reading, as the House continues to process legislation aligned with the administration’s agenda.
