The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) announced on Monday that an additional 10,000 scholarship slots are available for qualified dependents of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and seafarers.

The expansion follows the growth of OWWA’s trust fund, which has reached P21.3 billion. Previously, the agency offered about 15,000 slots, and the new allocation increases the total for 2026 to 25,000.

OWWA currently runs three scholarship programs:

  • Education for Development Scholarship Program provides a grant of up to P60,000 per school year for qualified dependents of active OWWA members pursuing a four- to five-year baccalaureate course until completion of a college degree.

  • OFW Dependent Scholarship Program offers P20,000 per school year to qualified dependents enrolled or planning to enroll in a Philippine-based college or university. The required monthly salary of the OFW will follow guidelines issued by OWWA for each application period.

  • Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program is intended for deserving migrant workers and their immediate descendants pursuing college degrees in science and technology.
