Miguel Tabuena kept grinding at LIV Golf Adelaide on Friday, carding a steady one-under-par 71 in the second round to stay in the mix.
Starting from the fifth hole, the Filipino ace opened with six straight pars before heating up with three birdies over the next four holes. A bogey on No. 14 slowed the run, then another dropped shot on No. 1 followed. Tabuena answered back with a birdie on No. 3, but gave one back on his final hole to finish the day at one under. He now sits tied for 25th at four-under overall.
Up front, Jon Rahm stole the show.
The Spaniard fired a sizzling nine-under 63 — packed with birdies and an eagle — to surge into the solo lead at 13-under, pulling one clear of New Zealand’s Ben Campbell, who also shot 63 to reach 12-under.
Bryson DeChambeau, who led after the opening round, slipped to third at 11-under after a five-under 67, while Australia’s Marc Leishman dropped into a tie for 11th at six-under.
Anthony Kim continued his strong run with a second straight 67, sitting alone in third earlier in the day before Rahm’s late charge reshuffled the leaderboard.
Latin American players also made noise, led by Colombia’s Sebastian Muñoz, who jumped into a tie for seventh at eight-under after a five-under round highlighted by an eagle. Joaquin Niemann hovered around the top 10 at seven-under, while Abraham Ancer stayed steady at six-under.
With big scores flying and the leaderboard tightening, the weekend at Adelaide is shaping up to be a shootout — and Tabuena remains right in the hunt.
