Asian Hospital opens new Bayanihan ward

Asian Hospital and Medical Center opened its newly constructed Bayanihan Ward — a move aimed at making high-quality medical services more accessible to indigent patients.

Located on the eighth floor of the hospital’s Tower 2, the 29-bed facility includes 16 beds for adult surgical and medical cases, six for obstetrics and gynecology, six for pediatrics, and one isolation unit.

The expansion brings the hospital’s total service ward capacity to 34 beds, including five chemotherapy beds in Tower 1.

Dr. Beaver Tamesis, president and CEO of Asian Hospital, led the opening ceremony alongside Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon and Health Undersecretary Dr. Mary Ann Palermo-Maestral.

Dr. Jose M. Acuin, director of the Asian Learning Institute and head of the Bayanihan Service Program, described the ward as a one-stop hub. The floor houses training program offices and Asian Hospital Charities Inc., the hospital’s official charity arm.

“Our goal is to make our brand of globally recognized care accessible to as many Filipinos as possible,” Acuin said. He added that centralized medical, nursing, and allied health trainees in the ward would allow for more standardized and efficient services.

Meantime, Biazon welcomed the initiative, noting that in Muntinlupa, “every bed counts.” He praised the hospital’s “Alagang Deserve, Alagang Sulit” tagline, stating it provides hope to residents who previously felt high-quality private healthcare was out of reach.
