President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to deliver a speech at the special session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in March.
The UNGA is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations (UN), serving as its main deliberative, policymaking, and representative body.
Palace press officer and Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said on Monday that Marcos’s speech would be part of his scheduled working visit to New York from 8 to 11 March.
The President will also attend the opening of the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, a forum focusing on strengthening access to justice for women and girls.
The UN said its top intergovernmental body will review the progress on gender equality, with a special focus on women’s participation in public life.
Castro said the President will hold meetings with UN officials as part of his working visit.
The Palace, however, did not say if Marcos will have a meeting with US President Donald Trump whom he last saw during the funeral of Pope Francis in Vatican City last year.
