Forty-eight women from underserved communities in Malvar, Batangas — many of them mothers and primary income earners seeking flexible livelihood opportunities — are now better equipped for the digital economy after graduating from the Elevate AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Annotation) program of Aboitiz Foundation on 22 January.
Led by Aboitiz Construction and Aboitiz Foundation, in partnership with Connected Women, the initiative focuses on empowering women who have limited access to traditional employment by providing them with technology-driven skills that enable sustainable, home-based income. The program forms part of a nationwide goal to upskill 300,000 women and expand access to dignified digital work opportunities.
Through Elevate AIDA, participants gained foundational skills in data annotation—an essential component in training Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. Designed as an online learning journey, the program opens pathways to remote work, allowing women to balance family responsibilities while participating in the growing digital economy.
The graduation ceremony, held at the Malvar Municipal Hall, was attended by Mayor Art Abu and Lilibeth Lat, chairperson of Barangay Bagong Pook, reflecting strong local government support for women’s digital inclusion.
“At Aboitiz Construction, our transformation journey includes uplifting the communities where we operate. By equipping these women with digital capabilities, we are helping them stay competitive, resilient, and ready for a technology-driven future,” said Karmine Andrea Ching, senior assistant vice president for business transformation of Aboitiz Construction.
Support for the graduates continues beyond the ceremony. Connected Women will provide advanced upskilling sessions and assistance in accessing online job platforms to help translate their training into real income opportunities.
“The Elevate AIDA training in Malvar demonstrates what is possible when communities, local leaders, and partners come together. By building digital skills and confidence among women, we are enabling them to create new opportunities, uplift their families, and contribute to a more inclusive and future-ready Philippines,” said Mardi Mapa-Suplido, chief operating officer of Aboitiz Foundation.
To further strengthen their readiness for remote work, Aboitiz Foundation, in collaboration with UnionBank, will conduct an online session next month on financial literacy and cybersecurity — ensuring graduates can manage their earnings wisely and navigate the digital space safely.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to inclusive growth — bridging technology and opportunity to empower Filipino women and families across the country.

Four participants will spend a year living in an isolated habitat to help prepare for future deep-space missions.
