Around 60 contractors involved in anomalous flood control projects may face blacklisting as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) moves to revoke their licenses.
In a press briefing, Palace spokesperson Claire Castro said four contractors have already had their licenses revoked, while 16 others are currently undergoing blacklisting proceedings, based on data from the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB).
“The ongoing infrastructure will not be affected by the ongoing revocation of the license of the involved contractors, as there are still reliable ones who can do the work,” Castro said in Filipino.
She added that several companies continue to perform well despite the revocations.
“Contractors and industry workers don’t need to worry about dealing with the government. The President promised that all contractors who do their jobs properly will be paid,” she added.
On Monday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed government agencies to immediately pay contractors who have completed infrastructure projects, a move aimed at improving confidence and stability in the country’s infrastructure sector.
