Kieffer Alas had another stellar performance after scoring 25 points for Utah Prep Academy over the weekend.

Alas is coming from a 30-point explosion last January as he continues his pursuit of a slot in the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

However, his efforts came up short as Utah Prep lost 62-82, to Hill Crest Prep in Arizona.

Despite the loss, Ateneo de Manila University assistant coach Louie Alas is happy with his son’s progress as he slowly finds his rhythm.

However, the 62-year-old mentor said his Kieffer is still trying to blend his game to his new environment.

“He is still adjusting with his teammates and the system but he does work out with his teammates. He’s still a work in progress,” the elder Alas told DAILY TRIBUNE.

“Of course, his stock will rise but first things first, he needs to have personal development.”

More than just hoop skills, the veteran tactician wants his son to be well-rounded in other areas of life.

“He needs to improve in other aspects of his life like in academics,” the elder Alas said.

Alas needs to be superb both academically and physically if he wants to make it in one of the biggest collegiate leagues in the world.

Division 1 schools require athletes to have a grade point average of 2.3 to be eligible for an athletic scholarship.

While rumors are pregnant with Alas possibly coming home for a stint in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, his remains committed to enter a Division 1 school.

“I mean, that was the main reason why I went here, just mainly because of the thought that there would be a zero percent chance of making it to Division I if I don't go here. But at least if I come here, I will give myself the opportunity to show myself in front of these coaches, so just take the risk,” Alas said.
