Carlo Biado toppled Hong Kong-based Filipino Robbie Capito, 11-7, in the final of the Asian 10-Ball Pool Championships Saturday in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The triumph was Biado’s first title of 2026 and it came with a purse of $12,000 (P706,980).
“I think maybe it’s because of my exposure in international events. You need to play a lot of tournaments to get better because I won many times and it gave me confidence,” Biado, a two-time world champion, said.
“Capito gave me a good battle. He’s like my older son so I’m glad to play against him in the final.”
Biado won three straight racks as he broke a 5-5 deadlock to get ahead of their race-to-11 match in the finals.
Capito, the 2024 UK Open Nine-ball Championship titleholder, tried to catch up with Biado as he won two straight racks, 7-8.
But Biado closed out the show by stringing up three racks.
Biado started his campaign with a 6-7 loss to teammate Antonio Lining, forcing him to go through the loser’s bracket.
He went on to blank Abhinav Dhiman of India, 7-0, in the losers’ first round and defeated another Indian cue artist in Shivam Arora, 7-3, in the losers’ qualification to enter the Round of 32.
Biado continued his hot streak in the Last 32 with a 5-9 victory over Bashar Hussain Abdulmajeed of Qatar and a close 9-8 win over Reyes Cup teammate Dương Quốc Hoàng of Vietnam in the Round of 16.
Biado took down Filipino cue artist Raymund Faraon, 9-4, and Aloysius Yapp of Singapore, 9-7, in the semifinal to earn the right to face Capito for the championship.
