Six Manila police officers face summary dismissal and criminal charges after they were arrested for allegedly robbing a guest inside a Makati City hotel, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced Thursday.
The suspects — one police sergeant and five rookie officers assigned to the Manila Police District (MPD) — were apprehended Wednesday in a follow-up operation.
NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said the officers are currently detained and will face “airtight” criminal cases.
“These police scalawags will also face administrative charges which will result in their dismissal from the service at the soonest possible time,” Aberin said in a statement.
The victim told investigators that armed men barged into his hotel room following a night out in Malate, Manila. The suspects allegedly held the victim at gunpoint, forced him to the floor, tied his hands, and fled on motorcycles with his belongings.
In response to the incident, Aberin ordered the immediate relief of the Malate Police Station commander and all members of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit.
