The 2026 Oscar nominations have been unveiled, and while major contenders such as Sinners lead the pack with 16 nods and One Battle After Another follows with 13, fans of a popular movie musical are questioning a notable omission.

Online reaction has focused on what netizens are calling the Academy’s snub of Wicked: For Good, the second installment of the Wicked film series, which failed to secure a single nomination this year.

The shutout marks a sharp contrast to 2025, when the first Wicked film earned 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and won awards for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

The lack of recognition has fueled widespread discussion on social media. One user on X wrote, “The Oscars really snubbed Wicked: For Good… not even Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, or Best Original Song?”

Another fan added, “Wicked was snubbed by the Oscars? Walang ni isang nomination? Costume? Make-up? Song? Luh haha why???”

Fans had anticipated nominations in categories such as Best Original Song for “Girl in the Bubble” and “No Place Like Home,” as well as Best Costume Design, citing the franchise’s reputation for strong visual storytelling and musical impact.
