This is why chicken lovers have been raving about the new Chatto Chicken’s lineup of chicken burgers. Available via Sunday pop-ups at Ikomai (147 ACI Group Building, HV Dela Costa, Salcedo Village, Makati City) since November 2025, Chatto Chicken is all about crispy, juicy chicken burgers done right so much so that they hit that perfect “Zaku-Uma Karaage” — crunchy and flavorful — spot.

Born in Nagoya, Japan, it was founded by chef Hideki Saeki, co-founder of Ikomai in Manila in January 2022. Built on a family chicken recipe passed down from his father, the brand is now operated by Galway Corp. and has pop-up locations in Tokyo alongside its Nagoya roots. So when Chef Hideki and his business partner, Filipino chef James Antolin, decided to bring Chatto Chicken to Manila, it was also via pop-ups at Ikomai in Manila, which turned out to be a big hit every Sunday.

Serious chicken burgers, Chatto Chicken’s burgers are huge, delicious and fully satisfying 200-gram chicken thigh fillet karaage burgers. There are 10 variants to choose from — Classic, the signature chicken burger with a slice of tomato, onion ring, lettuce and sauce; Cheese (with an additional slice of cheese); Salsa (with tomato and onion salsa); Teriyaki; Yangnyeom (Korean ); Buffalo (spicy buffalo wing style); Cheese Egg (Classic with cheese slices and fried egg); Black Pepper Cheese; Avocado (Classic chicken karaage burger with slices of avocado); and the ultimate in indulgence, Double (which, as its name implies, comes with double chicken karaage patties).

Their prices range from P330 for the Classic Burger to P480 for the Avocado and Double burgers. They lean slightly on the expensive, but what can you expect for a gourmet chicken burger that’s huge, loaded with all the good stuff you like, cooked and assembled fresh upon order and steeped in a Japanese family history?

To complete the chicken karaage burger dining experience, Chatto Chicken carries a full line of sides, which includes Big Karaage pieces, the same 200-gram chicken karaages which you can eat ala carte for P180 to P190 per piece, depending on which of the five flavors or variants you order — Regular, Spicy, Black Pepper, Parmesan or Curry. Also available are sides of fries, which come in the same five flavors or variants as the Big Karaages, as well as Onion Rings.

For those who crave for more chicken fixes, Chatto Chicken offers Chicken Wings in Regular, Yangnyeom and Teriyaki Cheese flavors, with sodas, Homemade Iced Tea, Homemade Lemonade, beer (San Miguel Light or Pale Pilsen), Highball (refreshing whisky soda) and clean, bright and refreshing Gin & Tonic to wash down the food with.
