Ayala-backed e-wallet GCash is jacking up efforts to guide first-time cryptocurrency investors by launching a free in-app guide amid growing interest in digital assets.

The guide is available on GCrypto, GCash’s in-app crypto marketplace, and was written and illustrated by GCrypto Head Luis Buenaventura. 

“Understanding why crypto matters is the first step to learning how to use it wisely,” Buenaventura said on Thursday.

“By publishing the book directly on the GCrypto platform, users can learn and explore at their own pace within a secure environment. This helps Filipinos build confidence and make informed decisions as they navigate the world of crypto,” he added. 

Divided into eight chapters, the guide starts with why cryptocurrency was developed, linking it to inflation and the erosion of purchasing power, before discussing Bitcoin’s rise and volatility.

The launch comes as 96 percent of Filipinos are aware of cryptocurrency and more than half plan to invest within the year, according to a 2025 Consensys survey, even as many remain cautious due to volatility and lack of understanding.

GCrypto allows users to start trading using a fully verified GCash account, with no separate onboarding required. Investment entry points start at P200, lowering the barrier for retail participation.

The platform offers a curated selection of cryptocurrencies vetted for security, supports peso-to-crypto conversion, and enables blockchain transactions within the GCash app.
