Davao City — Health officials in the Davao Region will launch a massive supplemental immunization campaign starting next week to maintain low infection rates for measles and rubella.
The “Ligtas Tigdas” campaign will run from 19 January to 13 February, targeting children aged six months to 59 months, the Department of Health (DoH) Davao Region announced Monday.
Dr. Grace Amistoso, DoH-XI officer-in-charge assistant regional director, said during a media briefing that the initiative aims to build on the progress made last year.
“Davao City had reduced its cases of measles-rubella in 2025,” Amistoso said. “For this year, we aim to maintain that record and push more programs such as this immunization activity to prevent the spread of the disease.”
Local government units will set up vaccination hubs in accessible public areas, including barangay halls, shopping malls and public parks.
Dr. Janis Olavides, a medical officer for DoH-XI, said the supplemental activity will eventually expand from the Davao Region to a Mindanao-wide campaign later this year.
