A pre-dawn fire destroyed four delivery trucks at a parking area in Barangay Rosario on Tuesday, triggering explosions that startled nearby residents.
Reports said that the blaze broke out in the early morning hours and reportedly started in a six-wheeler truck that had recently returned from a delivery run. The fire intensified quickly, spreading to three adjacent trucks before firefighters could arrive.
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) investigators said office workers in the area attempted to use fire extinguishers, but the flames had already engulfed the first vehicle.
“The fire rapidly intensified and spread to adjacent vehicles, overwhelming early attempts to contain the flames,” authorities said.
While the fire destroyed the vehicles, it was contained before reaching a densely populated residential area. A nearby canteen sustained minor damage from heat and smoke.
Preliminary findings from the BFP-Pasig suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault or a battery issue in one of the trucks.
Investigators noted the trucks were mostly empty at the time, which helped prevent a larger conflagration.
No injuries were reported. The area remained cordoned off Tuesday as officials worked to determine the official cause and estimate the total cost of the property damage.
