Buses are back on the EDSA Busway’s exclusive inner lane from Roxas Boulevard to Orense after rehabilitation works were completed, restoring trips for thousands of daily commuters who returned to work and school today.

In a statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the repair works were completed within the original timeline and noted that the ongoing rehabilitation of EDSA is also expected to complement the government’s traffic management efforts. 

Repair works for other sections of EDSA will continue on a limited schedule, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily.

“We thank the Department of Public Works and Highways under the leadership of Secretary Dizon because they quickly completed the rehabilitation works on the busway lane.

It is timely because most passengers are already back to school and back to work, so they can continue their fast and more convenient trips using the busway,” Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said.

Lopez also reiterated that the inner busway lane remains strictly exclusive to authorized passenger buses.

“Private vehicles are not allowed to pass through the EDSA busway. That is our repeated reminder. Our personnel are always on watch to apprehend private vehicles that enter the busway, and we also continues the implementation of the No Contact Apprehension Policy,” he said.

The further improve the busway, the DOTr also prepares to expand the system with three new stations in Cubao, Magallanes, and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange, with construction set to start early this year. 

The bidding for the stations was completed in December, and the additional stops are expected to improve bus flow, making public transport along EDSA faster and more accessible.

Meanwhile, the Kamuning Station is set to open between January and March. It will feature elevators and escalators to aid senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women, along with a new footbridge separate from the MRT-3.
