Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairperson Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said the agency is finalizing processes for a full digital transition aimed at improving public land transportation regulation.
Mendoza said the LTFRB is working toward full online filing and verification of applications, petitions, motions, and other transactions.
“Our goal is to fully implement online applications and verification for all LTFRB transactions,” Mendoza said.
He said the shift is in line with the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Act and is expected to reduce opportunities for fixers by limiting face-to-face transactions.
“Once completed, online transactions will be more direct and faster, with less human intervention,” he said.
Mendoza said the digital transition is being pursued alongside the Public Transportation Modernization Program, noting that it would be inconsistent to modernize public transport while maintaining outdated regulatory systems.
The LTFRB said it is currently improving its online platform to make it more user-friendly and has started online verification of Certificates of Public Convenience and Provisional Authority to shorten processing time for public utility vehicles.
