The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported that calls to the crisis hotline of the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) have reached 675.
The DOH said the majority of callers reported experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression. Other common reasons cited were problems involving romantic relationships and family concerns.
Data also showed that the volume of calls peaked on December 23, a day before Christmas Eve.
Based on gender, most of those who reached out to the mental health crisis hotline were women. In terms of age, the largest group of callers were young adults aged 18 to 30, followed by those aged 31 to 43.
The NCMH earlier reiterated that its crisis hotline operates круглосуточно, remaining open 24/7 with no holidays.
Individuals in need of mental health support may contact the NCMH crisis hotline through 1553 (toll-free nationwide landline), or via mobile numbers 0919-057-1553 and 0917-899-8727.
