Artinformal ends the year on a high. Kristoffer Ardena’s stunning exhibition entitled Seiches (a temporary disturbance or oscillation in the water level of a lake or partially enclosed body of water, especially one caused by changes in atmospheric pressure) triumphs with an arresting and strong point of view.
In the artist’s work, painting begins as a condition of life. His pieces embody reality through materials, climate and rhythms of the Philippines: elastomeric paint, tarpaulins, upholstery and embroidery techniques inspired by jeepney culture, etc.
“Kris Ardena confronts the intersections of life, place, time and climate with such layers of depth and meaning. In a vast array of works, he displays such intellectual heft with a mastery over materials and how nature works in image making,” says renowned collector Ayi Magpayo. His noteworthy and remarkable works express nothing but the beauty and artistry of cerebral brilliance in form.
A master in the making, Kris lives and works between Bacolod (Philippines) and Madrid (Spain). He contributes to the global movement of neo-tropicality through documentation, production and writing.
Tina Fernandez of Artinformal ends, “Kris is a wonderful artist to work with. Aside from his brilliance, he understands the relationship between artist and gallery. Our collaboration has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as a gallerist.”
Exhibition runs until 7 January 2026.
