The Office of the Vice President (OVP) recently launched a commemorative coffee table book chronicling its institutional history and the legacy of past and present vice presidents.

Created under the 1935 Constitution, the OVP has evolved over nine decades alongside the nation. Once viewed largely as a contingency office, the vice presidency has gradually assumed a more visible role shaped by history, politics, and public expectations.

The OVP’s 90th Anniversary Coffee Table Book documents that transformation through archival photographs and narratives tracing the Office’s journey from the Commonwealth period to the present.

The volume highlights how the Office adapted during periods of war, political upheaval, and democratic transition, redefining its relevance over time.

The book centers on the vice presidents who led the Office, each bringing distinct priorities and leadership styles. While their influence varied across administrations, each contributed to expanding the role of the Vice Presidency beyond protocol, using it as a platform for governance, advocacy and public service.
