They don’t call it a “honeymoon,” but actresses Janella Salvador and Klea Pineda seem to be on one in California, USA — possibly an “extended honeymoon.” Based on their Instagram posts, the two have been together in California since early December, with no indication either has returned to the Philippines.
It’s just the two of them — Salvador’s five-year-old son, Jude Trevor, from her estranged husband, ex-actor Markus Paterson, has not accompanied them. Their social media shows no pictures of Jude with his mom or with Pineda.
Despite public sightings, they are still referred to as a “rumored couple,” likely because they’re too busy enjoying each other’s company to officially label their relationship.
Both have shared glimpses of their US trip online. Salvador posted photos of the places they visited and the food they enjoyed, including a smiling close-up of them together. Pineda shared black-and-white photobooth strips showing playful poses, a photo of Salvador holding pink tulips, and a solo mirror shot where a picture of Salvador is visible on her phone case. One shot even shows Salvador’s hand resting on Pineda’s shoulder. Salvador captioned a post, “La La Land feels like home,” and Pineda replied, “Naaaahhh, I’m home.”
Salvador also posted a video of herself exploring the US while a woman, presumably Pineda, laughs behind the camera. She captioned it, “Me, according to you.”
The two previously worked together on Open Endings, a sapphic film featured at Cinemalaya 2025, co-starring Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Leanne Mamonong. Their on- and off-screen closeness during and after filming has been noted online, with sightings at concerts and tattoo shops fueling fan speculation.
Salvador is the only child of singer-actress Jenine Desiderio and rock singer Juan Miguel Salvador. Her parents were married for about four years before separating in the early 2000s, though neither filed for legal annulment. Desiderio raised Janella as a single mother, and Janella has since reconciled with both parents.
Before her relationship with Pineda, Salvador had shown an openness to same-sex relationships. Fans noted her off-camera chemistry with Jane de Leon on ABS-CBN’s Mars Ravelo’s Darna (2022–2023). Their on-screen pairing, Narda/Darna (De Leon) and Regina (Salvador), was romanticized by fans as the “Janella loveteam,” even after Salvador had separated from Paterson.
Salvador also collaborated with De Leon on the Star Music single “Hey You,” featuring a romantic storyline between two women. The success of the music video sparked Salvador’s interest in doing a full Girls’ Love (GL) film with De Leon. Although they only made one movie together, How to Be a Good Wife (not GL), they continue to support each other’s careers.
Then came Open Endings at Cinemalaya 2024, where Salvador and Pineda portrayed sapphic lovers alongside Curtis-Smith and Tamonong. At the time, Pineda had ended a three-year relationship with girlfriend Klarisse Kierulf, and in real life, Salvador and Pineda became romantically involved.
Fans hope the partnership lasts beyond three years. Ideally, Salvador, Pineda, and Jude Trevor could be embraced as a modern Filipino family, with Paterson’s potential future family harmonizing alongside them. A beautiful life, after all, comes from resolving challenges through collaboration and love, creating moments that feel like Christmas most days of the year.
Over the years, fans have also hoped to learn more about Pineda’s family background. The public knows she won a Kapuso network star search in 2015, with male counterpart Migo Adecer. She appears unrelated to the Pinedas of Pampanga, stands 5’9”, and is 26 years old (while Salvador is 27). Pineda is also studying to be a pilot.
Salvador and Pineda now continue to thrive individually and as a couple in the entertainment industry, navigating life and love under the public eye while keeping their happiness at the forefront.
