Ascott Limited Philippines was recognized for its sustainability efforts after receiving the People Category Award at the recent Le Trophée Bleu Business Sustainability Awards organized by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines.

The award was given for “Seeds for Hope,” a nationwide tree-planting initiative led by Ascott Philippines through its properties in Luzon and the Visayas. The program focuses on rehabilitating areas affected by deforestation and rapid urban development, including communities in Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod and Quezon City.

In Iloilo, volunteers from Citadines Amigo Iloilo planted 200 saplings in a sub-watershed of the Jalaur River to help support the river’s ecosystem and reinforce land stability. In Bacolod City, employees, partners, and guests of Citadines Bacolod planted 100 trees using fertilizer derived from the property’s food waste.

In Cebu, teams from Citadines Cebu City and lyf Cebu City partnered with CarbonPH to plant 50 indigenous trees near the Buhisan Dam to help support flood mitigation efforts through watershed rehabilitation. In Metro Manila, Ascott Philippines mobilized 60 volunteers to plant 85 native saplings in Payatas, Quezon City, in partnership with Rural Rising.

Ascott said the project is part of its global sustainability platform, Ascott CARES, which integrates environmental and social responsibility into the company’s operations. The initiative is anchored on five pillars: Community, Alliance, Respect, Environment, and Supply Chain.

Now in its fourth year, the Le Trophée Bleu Business Sustainability Awards recognizes companies for best practices in sustainability across five dimensions: People, Planet, Partnership, Peace, and Prosperity.
