A reckless raccoon became an internet sensation recently after its photo went viral on social media.
The photo showed the animal passed out, spread eagle, face down, inside the bathroom of a ransacked liquor store in Ashland, Virginia, USA.
It was the lone suspect in the break-in at the store where responding police officers were greeted by broken bottles littering an aisle.
Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter officers found the raccoon inside the Ashland ABC Store on 29 November, Agence France-Presse reports.
When the raccoon woke up from its drunken stupor after a few hours, it was safely released back to the wild and no charges were filed.
Meanwhile, a bar in New Zealand had an unexpected guest that staff did not serve on 30 November.
The Sprig+Fern The Meadows craft beer bar in Richmond, on New Zealand’s South Island, abides by the rules against drinking by minors.
A patron who knew that the customer was underage tried to usher it out the backdoor but the baby seal dashed into a restroom and then hid under the dishwasher, NBC News reports.
The customer and bar co-owner got a dog cage and lured the seal into it with a salmon before conservation rangers, who had been in pursuit of the animal, arrived at the bar.
The seal was released on nearby Rabbit Island, Department of Conservation spokesperson Helen Otley said, adding that the young seal’s antics was not unusual due to its curiosity, according to NBC News.
