Unbeaten Dasmariñas and surprise challenger Biñan lock horns for the first blood in the best-of-three finals of the 2025 Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) on Wednesday at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.
Game time is at 5 p.m. with the Monarchs looming as the undisputed heavy favorite with their perfect campaign so far entering the finals of the upstart regional volleyball league.
Dasmariñas, albeit a new club, wiped out the two-round elimination and the semifinal series against the Negros ICC Blue Hawks for a 16-0 slate so far.
And the Monarchs have no plan of stopping anytime soon in an ultimate bid to score the first season sweep in the three seasons of the MPVA so far.
Aside from a home court advantage in the series with two games in Dasmariñas to achieve it, the Monarchs also pose a heavy edge in manpower with the full backing of the mighty National University (NU).
NU, led by team captain Vange Alinsug and super rookie Sam Cantada, is the three-time champion in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and four-peat titlist in the Shakey’s Super League — thus looking to add the MPVA to its dynasty even in what’s supposedly a rebuilding era without Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon.
