The second Provincial Dialysis Center opened in Apalit, Pampanga, on 3 December 2025, giving Cabalens who require dialysis better and closer access to essential medical services—especially those living far from the City of San Fernando.
The facility received a P30-million allocation from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for its construction. It will house 40 dialysis machines and a water reverse osmosis system funded by the Department of Health (DOH).
According to the provincial health office, the center can accommodate up to 200 patients daily. Patients may avail themselves of the PhilHealth Dialysis Package, which provides free dialysis for treatments costing up to P1,000,000.
Dialysis is a medical procedure that cleans the blood when the kidneys are no longer able to, removing waste products and excess fluid. It is a life-sustaining treatment for patients with acute or chronic kidney failure that also helps regulate blood pressure and maintain mineral balance.
Hemodialysis filters blood through a machine outside the body, while peritoneal dialysis uses the abdominal lining to remove toxins and excess fluid.
