The Philippines remained among the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) member states that meet minimum requirements for the issuance of Seafarers’ Identity Documents (SIDs), the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) said on Monday.
Marina said the Philippines maintained its standing after the 355th Session of the ILO Governing Body, where a review group of representatives from international organizations and ratifying states evaluated the procedures for issuing SIDs.
“The Review Group endorsed the Philippines’ continued compliance, highlighting the nation’s adherence to the updated technical standards and processes outlined by the ILO Convention (Revised), 2003, as amended (No. 185),” Marina said.
In a notice published on 19 November, the ILO said the governing body approved the country’s retention on the list based on the office’s assessment and the report of the review group.
Marina said the Philippines has yet to receive the official correspondence.
The listing recognizes countries that satisfy the requirements of the convention on processing, security features, and issuance systems for SIDs.
