The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has activated its services and local chapters across Metro Manila in preparation for the second “Trillion Peso March for Truth and Accountability,” which is expected to draw thousands of demonstrators to the Quirino Grandstand and the EDSA Shrine on Sunday.
In a statement, the PRC confirmed the organization’s readiness, stating that the PRC is prepared to serve the public wherever large gatherings occur.
“Our role on Sunday will be simple but vital. We are there to protect life and preserve dignity,” said the PRC. “Whether people come together to celebrate or to speak out, the Red Cross will always be ready to respond with compassion and humanity to those who may need assistance.”
In preparation for the event, the PRC placed all ambulance units in the National Capital Region on high alert for immediate dispatch. Eight ambulance units will be pre-positioned at the two main venues.
Four ambulances will be assigned to Manila at the Quirino Grandstand, sourced from the Manila and Pasay Chapters and the National Headquarters Port team. Four other ambulances will be assigned near the People Power Monument in Quezon City, with teams from the Quezon City Chapter, the NHQ Tower team and the Rizal-San Juan City Branch.
First aid stations will be established at strategic locations at both sites for minor injuries and health concerns. Additionally, Health Services, in coordination with the Quezon City Chapter, will operate a 10-bed Emergency Medical Tent for patients requiring observation or more extensive treatment.
