16 CAAP airports to get digital makeover

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has tapped PLDT Enterprise, the corporate arm of PLDT, to digitalize 16 airports nationwide to boost connectivity, streamline operations, and elevate the passenger experience. 

CAAP said over the weekend that PLDT Enterprise will help modernize key airports and facilities with fiber optic networks, network equipment and digital tools.

The initiative covers airports in Clark, Tuguegarao, Bicol, Puerto Princesa, Laoag, Bacolod-Silay, Tacloban, Kalibo, Mactan, Zamboanga, Davao, General Santos, Laguindingan and Pagadian, as well as key CAAP offices including the Civil Aviation Training Center and the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center.

Consistent dedicated internet access

The partnership will target to provide consistent, dedicated internet access and structured connectivity across all participating airports, thereby improving operational efficiency and the passenger experience.

PLDT Enterprise will implement the necessary fiber-optic networks, distribution equipment, and cable infrastructure to connect CAAP staff and facilities, supported by a unified front-end tool tailored to the specific needs of each airport.

Pivotal step

“Our partnership with PLDT Enterprise represents a pivotal step in the modernization and digital transformation of our airports,” CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario said.

“By strengthening our digital infrastructure, we are enhancing operational efficiency and elevating the overall passenger experience to meet global standards,” he added. 

Blums Pineda, senior vice president and head of Enterprise Business Group at PLDT Enterprise, said the partnership with CAAP will also enhance the travel experience.
